In Skyrim I'm doing a dark brotherhood mission where i have to either kill cicero or i should spare his life. what happens in the game if i choose either one?
Should I let Cicero live, or kill him like the pathetic creature he is? On one hand i heard about how great of a follower he is, but on the other hand I did promise Astrid I'd kill him, and I am a man of my word.
(even though it is only a game). I had trouble killing Sindig the wearwolf. So I tried it both ways. If I let him live then I had to kill many innocents. If I killed him, then he was the only casualty.

Enchant crap clothes with better alchemy. Keep doing that if you kill him as part of the quest you get Cicero Armour, its a good midpoint between Shrouded and Ancient Shrouded. its pretty awesome looking too.
I let him live, because he is cool, a powerful follower, the keeper, and funny. He tricked me by saying it would kill me,its hard to trick me, so he did something close to the impossible. Yeah, he tried to kill the Dovahkiin with that Troll, but i forgive him. Edited by Dovahkiin069, 10 July 2012 - 02:36 PM.
If you let him live, you get a unique voiced (though annoying) Essential follower. If you kill him, you get his clothing, which has stronger enchantments than the normal Jester's Clothes set. The set has no armor, but the light weight of the chestpiece and Fortify Barter might make it useful. Nothing bad happens either way, if you kill him he's gone and not a lot of people miss him. If you let him live there's a follower with some fairly decently funny things to say from time to time.

That is because unfortunately someone at Bethesda made Cicero essential even after completing the Dark Brotherhood questline and him becoming your follower (if you let him live during Cure for Madness). Kill Cicero. Once you approach and attack him, the jester will jump up into fighting position.
If he is spared, he becomes essential again, making him unable to be killed. Share. Improve this answer.

This is the only Sanctuary left in all of Skyrim, you see?" "Someone lied! Someone told the guard poor Cicero did something HE DID NOT!
I summoned him in the Dawnstar sanctuary as I was doing the quest to kill Cicero. If you do that, the spectral assassin tells you essentially that Sithis does not want you to kill Cicero so I spared him. Since you can pickpocket him and receive higher grade gear at the Dawnstar Sanctuary, it is really not lucrative to kill him. If you have completed the quest line for the Dark Brotherhood, and Cicerio is still alive at that point, he will indeed become a Follower. I highly recommend it! As everyone else has stated thus far, he's a great follower. He's sneaky and great with a blade, but there's another huge perk: he's essential. He's not just a whirlwind of blades and insanity, he's an unkillab I read dead thralling Cicero can lead to some pretty bad problems when it comes to continuing the Dark Brotherhood quest line.
